John was born and raised in Scottsbluff, Nebraska.  He graduated from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 2002 and the University of Nebraska College of Law in 2005.  John then practiced at the law firm of Harding & Shultz in Lincoln, Nebraska until joining Simmons Olsen Law Firm in the Spring of 2009.

John is actively involved in TeamMates of Scotts Bluff County mentoring program, serving as Vice President of the Board of Directors as well as a mentor at Bluffs Middle School.  He also performs the color commentary for Scottsbluff Bearcat football on KNEB radio.

John enjoys biking, running, golfing, water skiing, snowboarding, hunting, watching the Huskers and, above all, spending time with his wife, Jamie, and daughter, Elliot.
