Kent was born in Ord, Nebraska in 1963 and grew up in the Kenesaw area. He received his B.S. degree from Kearney State College in 1985 with a major in Business Administration with an emphasis in real estate. In 1992, he graduated with distinction from the University of Nebraska College of Law. Kent is admitted to practice in all State and Federal Courts in Nebraska and is a member of the Scotts Bluff County, West Nebraska and Nebraska State Bar Associations. After law school, Kent practiced in Grand Island, Nebraska prior to joining the Simmons Olsen Law Firm in 1995. He is currently the attorney for the cities of Terrytown and Mitchell, as well as the village attorney for Morrill, Broadwater, Gurley and Dalton. Kent concentrates his areas of practice to the following: real estate, probate and estate administration, business organizations, state, local and municipal law, government agencies and programs and business and commercial law. When not practicing law, Kent spends his time with his family and volunteering in various community organizations including the Terry & Hazeldeane Carpenter Intergenerational Center, the Scottsbluff Board of Realtors, Nebraska Business Development Center, Scotts Bluff County Personnel Board and Gering High School Booster Club, and speaks at the Nebraska Public Employees Pre-retirement Planning Seminar. Kent and his wife, Lisa, have three sons, Max, Charlie and Sam. He enjoys a wide variety of sporting events and outdoor activities.
